Product Overview
The HM12-UC2 is a glass-bonded welded ceramic capacitive pressure sensor manufactured by German HELM. Unlike the bare-die UC1 variant, the UC2 features a welded stainless steel isolation diaphragm that encapsulates the Welded stainless steel isolation diaphragm over 99.99% alumina ceramic sensing element, providing direct media isolation for aggressive process fluids. As part of the strategic partnership between HELM and HMK, this welded OEM sensor element brings German precision engineering to applications where media compatibility and process safety are paramount.
The welded construction of the HM12-UC2 combines the advantages of ceramic capacitive sensing — no oil fill, no contamination risk, exceptional overload protection — with the chemical resistance and mechanical protection of a stainless steel diaphragm. The UC2 employs a dry ceramic diaphragm behind the welded SS isolation layer, eliminating the risk of fill-fluid leakage while providing robust media separation. This makes it inherently suitable for food, pharmaceutical, and chemical process applications where media purity and sensor durability are equally critical. The ceramic material is corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, and immune to shock and vibration damage.
With measurement ranges from 5 kPa up to 7 MPa, and overload protection reaching 200× full scale on low ranges, the HM12-UC2 is engineered for demanding OEM applications. The welded stainless steel diaphragm provides a hermetic seal between the process media and the ceramic sensing element, making it suitable for corrosive gases, contaminated liquids, and high-humidity environments where a bare ceramic element would be insufficient. The standardized 4500 mV full-scale output with internal signal conditioning and temperature compensation simplifies integration with standard ADC and signal conditioning circuits.

Key Features
Welded Stainless Steel Isolation
Glass-bonded ceramic element welded to a stainless steel isolation diaphragm provides robust media separation. This construction protects the sensing element from aggressive fluids while maintaining the accuracy and stability of ceramic capacitive technology — ideal for chemical, food, and pharmaceutical processing.
Exceptional Overload Protection
Overload capacity ranges from 10× to 200× full scale depending on range selection. At low pressure ranges, the ceramic diaphragm safely bottoms out against the substrate without damage — solving the traditional micro-pressure overload problem.
German HELM Precision Engineering
Manufactured by HELM in Germany using 99.99% high-purity alumina ceramic with laser-trimmed signal conditioning. Each sensor undergoes factory calibration with internal temperature compensation for reliable performance across the full operating range.
Enhanced Media Compatibility
The welded stainless steel diaphragm extends media compatibility beyond what bare ceramic elements can handle. Suitable for mildly corrosive gases, contaminated liquids, and high-humidity environments where direct ceramic contact is not recommended.
Wide Temperature Range
Operates from −40 to 125°C with compensated accuracy across −20 to 80°C. Metal-sputtered sensor base enhances EMC performance and reduces mounting sensitivity for consistent measurement in harsh industrial environments.
Versatile Pressure Range Coverage
Available from micro-pressure (0.5 kPa) to high pressure (7 MPa) in gauge, absolute, and compound configurations. The 10:1 range turndown capability allows a single sensor model to cover multiple application requirements.
Applications
Industrial Pressure Transmitters
Core OEM sensing element for manufacturing industrial-grade pressure transmitters. The welded stainless steel isolation diaphragm protects the ceramic sensor from process media, enabling use in harsh industrial environments. The high-level millivolt output integrates directly with standard signal conditioning circuits used by major transmitter manufacturers.
Food & Beverage Processing
Dry ceramic construction eliminates contamination risk from fill fluids. The flush, flat diaphragm surface resists buildup and is easy to clean, meeting hygiene requirements for process pressure monitoring in food and beverage production lines.
Pharmaceutical & Medical
The welded SS diaphragm provides an additional barrier against product contamination beyond the ceramic element itself. The ceramic sensor’s chemical inertness and wide sterilization temperature tolerance make it ideal for pressure monitoring in pharmaceutical reactors, autoclaves, and medical gas systems.
HVAC & Building Automation
Micro-pressure capability down to 0.5 kPa with compound pressure options (±2.5 kPa, ±10 kPa) enables precise differential and static pressure measurement in air handling units, cleanroom pressurization, and duct pressure monitoring.
Water & Wastewater Treatment
Corrosion-resistant ceramic diaphragm withstands aggressive media and particulate-laden fluids without degradation. The 200× overload protection handles water hammer events that would damage conventional silicon-based sensors.
Laboratory & Calibration
±0.075% FS accuracy with excellent long-term stability (±0.05% FS/year) and low temperature drift provides reliable reference-grade performance for laboratory pressure measurement and calibration bench applications.
