HE23 Ceramic Precision Pressure Transmitter

Overview

The HE23 Ceramic Precision Pressure Transmitter is part of the HE Series — modular, European OEM-standard product line designed for cost-effective industrial measurement. It uses a ceramic diaphragm-based piezoresistive sensor that delivers excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and thermal stability across a wide operating temperature range.

Ceramic is recognized for its high elasticity and resilience against shock and vibration. The thick-film resistor technology on the ceramic substrate enables operation from -40°C to 135°C while maintaining high measurement accuracy and long-term stability. With electrical insulation exceeding 2 kV and strong output signal characteristics, the HE23 combines performance with affordability for volume OEM applications.

The HE23 offers five output signal options (4–20 mA, 1–5 V, 0–5 V, 0.5–4.5 V, and ratiometric 0.5–4.5 V/5 V), multiple process connections, and full EMC protection per IEC standards — making it suitable for process control, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, HVAC, automotive, and agricultural machinery applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ceramic piezoresistive sensors use an Al₂O₃ ceramic diaphragm that offers inherent corrosion resistance without requiring oil-fill isolation. This eliminates the risk of oil leakage and provides direct media contact capability with corrosive gases and liquids. Ceramic also provides superior electrical insulation (>2 kV) and excellent long-term stability, though diffused silicon sensors typically offer higher accuracy (±0.075–0.25% FS) for non-corrosive applications.

The HE23 covers 12 standard ranges from 0–2 bar (29 psi) up to 0–400 bar (5,801 psi). All ranges are gauge pressure type. Overload protection is 1.5–2× full scale, with burst pressure rated at 4× FS for ranges up to 60 MPa. An optional transient damper extends shock tolerance to 300% of rated pressure.

Yes, the HE23 is well-suited for mildly corrosive media. The ceramic diaphragm and 304 stainless steel wetted parts provide good resistance to many chemicals and corrosive gases. However, for highly aggressive acids or caustic solutions, consider the HM50 Anti-Corrosive Pressure Transmitter with tantalum or Hastelloy C wetted parts.

The HE10 uses diffused silicon (oil-filled) sensing technology, while the HE23 uses ceramic piezoresistive technology. The HE10 offers a wider pressure range (20 kPa–600 bar) and higher shock resistance (500g vs standard vibration for HE23). The HE23 excels in corrosive environments due to its ceramic diaphragm and is more cost-effective for high-volume OEM applications.
